Yoga Tea & Flexibilitea with Steeping Glass from T-tox

Yoga Tea & Flexibilitea with Steeping Glass from T-tox

This month I’ve really got into loose-leaf tea thanks to Johnny Hannis – aka Johnny T-tox (@JohnnyTtox on twitter). Johnny has been in the health and fitness industry for more than twelve years and is passionate about spreading the word on the benefits of loose-leaf tea. I had the pleasure of meeting Johnny – whose own story is compelling – at Club 51 in London. As Johnny explains on the T-tox website,

“ When I was 18, I developed Hydrocephalus (excess fluid on the brain), and it took me five years to fully recover. In that time, my priorities had changed somewhat and I shelved my original plans to study European Business at University. I had realised after my illness that the vast majority of us don’t appreciate our health until we lose it – a mantra that stays with me today.”

Johnny introduced me to the Yoga Tea and Flexibilitea flavours in the range before Christmas and I’ve really been enjoying them ever since – it’s become my favourite way to start the day (as well as some yoga of course :)), especially through the cold rainy mornings of the past month. I’ve been finding the process of brewing my tea in my special Tea Glass (a cross between a glass and teapot in one) quite therapeutic too.

Flexibilitea has fast become a favourite of mine

My favourite so far is the Flexibilitea (a blend of nettle, Burdock Root, Lemon Verbena , Jasmine Flowers and Marshmallow), but I’d like to work my way through the other T-tox teas in the coming months too, just to make sure :).

You can learn more about T-tox and check out some of the teas for yourself at www.t-tox.com. And for an interesting read on the differences between loose leaf teas and teabags see Johnny’s blog here.

NEW for 2014 - Beginners Yoga Courses in Pimlico with Stretching the City

“You can learn new things at any time in your life if you’re willing to be a beginner. If you actually learn to like being a beginner, the whole world opens up to you.” – Barbara Sher

Is one of your goals for 2014 to start a yoga practice or do you know someone who would like to take up yoga? Or maybe you’d like to go back to basics in your own practice. On Tuesday evenings from January 14th onwards I’m thrilled to be teaching Stretching the City‘s popular 6-week beginners yoga course in Pimlico, SW1 at The Men’s Club, St Gabriel’s Halls – their first South London venue.

From the Stretching the City website:
“Committing to a course of yoga classes will bring focus and frequency to your practice. So, whether you’re a brand new beginner just stepping on the mat, or a head-standing old hat looking to get back to basics, Stretching the City’s 6 week beginners course aims to teach you the basic postures, practices and philosophies of yoga. By the end of the course you should feel confident enough to come to drop-in classes, on yoga retreats, or even to practice at home.”

You can click here for further course info and to book please email sally@stretchingthecity.com.

And if you’re just after a quick refresher instead of a complete course, then you can click here and scroll down for details of the ‘Back to Basics’ Beginners Workshop coming up next month.

See you on the mat! :)

A Year of Living Your Yoga by Judith Hanson Lasater

A Year of Living Your Yoga by Judith Hanson Lasater

A Year of Living Your Yoga by Judith Hanson Lasater - one of my previous Books of the Month

Over the past year on my U Can Yoga website I have been featuring yoga related books that I’ve really enjoyed and want to share with you guys reading out there. For anyone who has missed the titles featured so far, I am including some my previous ‘Books of the Month’ here. As we begin a new year, A Year of Living Your Yoga by Judith Hanson Lasater feels apt. I hope you enjoy:

One of the previous books of the month was Living Your Yoga, also written by Judith which is another favourite of mine. What I like about this easy to dip into book are the daily aphorisms where Judith combines yoga, mindfulness, meditation and day-to-day experiences in such a way as to provide reminders that the ordinary and everyday can be extraordinary and special. In way, this reminds me of a quote I read from Tara Stiles where she said “Every moment is spiritual, therefore there are no separate spiritual moments.” This book by one of my favourite teachers is rarely far from my reach.
